Market Calendar: OpEx, CPI, FOMC & Earnings Dates

Market calendar: what's coming up

11 dates worth knowing over the next 35 days.

Options expirations, the economic releases that actually move the tape, and mega-cap earnings. Everything else is deliberately left out — a calendar listing every release is a data dump nobody reads. Dates are calculated from the exchange calendar, so holiday shifts are already accounted for.

Expiration
Quadruple witching
Index futures, index options, stock options and single-stock futures all expire together — the heaviest volume day of the quarter.

What each of these means

Options expiration (OpEx)

The third Friday of each month, when monthly equity and index options settle. Large open interest expires at once and dealer hedging unwinds, which can pin price near heavily-traded strikes into the close. See every upcoming expiration date ›

Quadruple witching

The quarterly version — March, June, September, December — when index futures, index options, stock options and single-stock futures all expire together. Usually the heaviest volume session of the quarter.

CPI, PCE and the jobs report

The three releases that reset rate expectations. They print at 8:30am ET and options are typically priced for a large move; positioning often unwinds hard in the hour afterwards.

FOMC rate decision

The single biggest scheduled volatility event on the calendar. Note this is the decision — the minutes, released three weeks later, are a different and much smaller event.
